Vote NO on Chautauqua By-Law Changes

It’s not modernization. It’s a power grab.

CCA is using scare tactics to convince you to give up your voting rights, in capitulation to a false claim of breach-of-lease by City Attorney Tom Carr. CCA is not in breach of its lease, and should not succumb to threats by the City.

WHY vote NO

  • It’s not “modernization” it’s suppressing dissenting voices opposed to commercialization.
  • It is improper for City Attorney Tom Carr, without direction from city council, to threaten Chautauqua with legal action. This threatens the very essence of the institution when we should protect it.
  • Reject putting Chautauqua back in the hands of the few self-propagating directors as it was in the 1970s. Reject disenfranchising Boulder citizens.
  • The rush to change the bylaws, and the secrecy around the board vote, violate public process and the tenets set forth by the City of Boulder in the Public Participation Working Group approved by the Boulder City Council (August 2017).

what can you do:

  • Preserve a Living Chautauqua. As a CCA member, please VOTE NO on the By-law changes on your email ballot.
  • If you have given away your vote to CCA by submitting a proxy form, you can revoke it by writing to starwaring@chautauqua.com
  • Please contact Boulder City Council to urge them to protect Chautauqua: council@bouldercolorado.gov
  • Contact the CCA Board of Directors and or staff at: info@Chautauqua.org
  • Attend the public forum on February 12 from 6 to 7:30pm at The Nomad Theater
